Emilio es un niñito que cumplió dos años a mediados de enero del 2016, un mes después, en febrero, empezó a mostrar síntomas extraños como caminar medio de ladito, enchuecar un poco su cabecita y tocarse el oído. Esto hizo que sus papás lo llevaran inmediatamente al pediatra quien le mandó hacer una resonancia magnética y el resultado fue devastador, un tumor en el tallo cerebral de muy difícil acceso y de rápido crecimiento.

¿Te imaginas que un sábado estás en una comida familiar y alguien te dice “tu hijo camina medio chistoso” y el domingo un doctor te dice “tu hijo tiene un tumor muy grande en el cerebro”? Aunque lo que quieres es morir, no hay tiempo para lamentarse, lo único que debes hacer es actuar.

Unos pocos días después Emilio entró a cirujía, le fue removido el 20 por ciento del tumor y empezaron las entrevistas con los doctores buscando la mejor opción para tratar de salvar su vida. Aquí no les dieron  esperanzas por su edad y el lugar del tumor, pero fueron aceptados para tener una entrevista con unos doctores en el Hospital MD Anderson en Houston Tx, para estudiar su caso y ver si era posible ayudarlo. Estando allá les ofrecieron quimioterapia y radioterapia focalizada para tratar de reducir el tumor y había que empezar cuanto antes. Desgraciadamente su seguro médico no tiene cobertura en el extranjero, aún así, sus papás decidieron quedarse porque su salud se estaba deteriorando tan rápido que no tenían la opción de seguir buscando. Yo, que soy mamá, sé que si me hubieran dicho que tenía que ir caminado a China para tener la esperanza de salvar a mi hijo, me pondría en camino sin dudarlo un segundo…

Su tratamiento tiene un costo aproximado de 200 mil dólares, cercade  3 millones y medio de pesos, así que su familia y amigos estamos haciendo todo lo posible por recaudar esa cantidad para ayudarlos, para que el dinero no sea lo que impida que recupere su salud, para que Emilio tenga todas las oportunidades que existan.

Se han organizado rifas, funciones de teatro especiales, una exposición de fotografía, comercios han donado parte de sus ganancias…pero aún así, falta mucho.

Hay un proyecto activo en Fondeadora, una plataforma en internet que ayuda a recaudar dinero. Es muy confiable para todo aquel que quiera donar, pueden estar seguros de que el dinero llega directamente para ayudarlo. Desgraciadamente tiene límite de tiempo, quedan tan solo 15 días de el proyecto de Emilio y lleva la mitad de el dinero necesario por ahora, el tiempo apremia…

Emilio nos ha demostrado lo fuerte que es y las ganas que tiene de vivir, está bajo tratamientos muy invasivos y ha resistido como un súper héroe…sus papás están tan conmovidos con todas las muestras de cariño, que no saben cómo agradecerlo. Pero Emilio sigue necesitando mucha ayuda…

Yo les pido desde el fondo de mi corazón, que lo ayuden en lo que puedan, ya sea rezando, mandando amor, luz, energía positiva, imaginando a Emilio sano, compartiendo su historia y donando lo que puedan a través de Fondeadora, esa cantidad que se ha juntado no ha sido de unas pocas personas, han sido muchas, cada peso suma, cada granito de arena hace una playa, si son 20 pesos, esos 20 ayudan mucho, si son 200 o son 1000, todos son agradecidos.

Emilio is a little boy who turned two in mid-January 2016. A month later, in February, he began to exhibit strange behaviors like walking unevenly and tilting his head slightly to the side. This made his parents take him to the pediatrician who immediately sent him to have an MRI. The results were devastating: a tumor in the brain stem with difficult access and rapid growth.

Can you imagine being at a family reunion on a Saturday when someone remarks offhand, “Your child is walking funny,” and on the following Sunday, a doctor tells you, “Your son has a very large tumor in the brain”? Although you the only thing you want to do is crawl under a rock, you don’t have time to feel sorry; you need to do something.

A few days later, Emilio underwent surgery. Twenty percent of the tumor was removed. Immediately after, doctors’ appointments started looking for the best option to try to save his life. In Mexico, there was nothing doctors could do because of the location of the tumor and Emilio’s age. But in Houston, Texas something could be done. They had an appointment with doctors at MD Anderson Hospital to explore Emilio’s case. There, doctors offered a treatment. They could not perform another surgery, but they could do targeted chemotherapy to try to shrink the tumor, and Emilio would have to start radiotherapy as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Emilio’s insurance does not have international coverage. But his health was deteriorating at such a rapid rate, that his parents decided to start the treatment right away. As a mom, I know that if I had been told I had to walk to China to have even a sliver of hope to save my son, I would have had done it without hesitation.His treatment has a cost of approximately USD$200,000 (about 3.5 million Mexican pesos). Emilio’s family and friends are doing everything they can to raise that amount. The last thing we want is money being an obstacle for Emilio’s road to recovery. We have organized raffles, theater plays, a photo exhibition, and businesses are donating a part of their earnings, but even with all of that, they are still far from raising the total cost of the treatment.

There is an active funding project through an internet platform (similar to ‘Go Fund Me’), to help raise the money Emilio’s parents need. It is very reliable for anyone who wants to donate, and you can be sure that the money goes directly to help. Unfortunately, we are in a time crunch and the funding project has only 15 days left. So far, half of the money has been raised, but time is running out.

Emilio has shown us how strong he is and he is fighting for his life. He is under very invasive treatments and has stood as a super hero. His parents have been extremely moved by all of the affection that people have demonstrated. They are very grateful with all the initiatives and the hundreds and hundreds of donors around the world. But Emilio still needs help. I ask you from the bottom of my heart, to help him in any way you can. You can help by praying, sending good vibes, love, light, positive energy, imagining Emilio healthy, sharing his story, and by donating what you can through the funding website. Many people have donated money. Every single dollar counts. Whatever the amount of the donation we all will be thankful.
